RAHMAAN?

Assalamualaikum warahmatullah wabarakatuh,

I'm not trying to be a believer of mystical thing like acronym that can predict future PM of Malaysia. Just to tell those who might want to believe it, in arabic, mercy - Rahman (as spelled in Malay) should be spelled as RAHMAAN with 2 As because 'maan' has two harakat, would that second 'A' belong to Anwar? When is he going to call for a non-confident vote?

Akta Fitnah???

Assalamualaikum warahmatullah wabarakatuh,

TV3 today said that Raja Petra is prosecuted under the AKTA FITNAH, or in English Sedition Act which many would translate it as Akta Hasutan. Why is TV3 'playing' it as Fitnah? Because RPK is held under ISA for 'anti-islam'. So to make the 'muslims' to be more disgusted with him, he should be charged with the guilt of making Fitnah, not hasutan. In Islam, making fitnah is worse than killing, yes, worse than killing and bombing the Mongolian.

Btw, what is fitnah in English? Sedition? Not even near. I think TV3's translator should brush up his/her English and Malay. Maybe this has to do with the English in Science & Maths at school...

Anwar-Ku Li

Assalamualaikum warahmatullah wabarakatuh,

We have 2 teams for UMNO:

Pak Lah - Najib

Najib - Muhyiddin

After listening to a few talks from Anwar and Ku Li, I think they are really looking at the same issues and want to bring changes to similar areas like economy, democracy, New Malaysia, etc. Why not let both of them join into a team and let all the MPs decide where they would like to swing during the no-confidence vote on 13th Oct 2008?

According to the constitution, the PM should be the one who wins the most votes among the MPs in the parliament. If the MPs favour the team of Pak Lah - Najib, let them be; but if they favour the team of Anwar - Ku Li, we will see a new Malaysia. Let's not talk about defecting, jumping or frogging! It's not about which party you are from, it is about who are the best leaders that can actually save the country. If you are an MP who care about your people in your constituency, speak for the people because there is no way that the people would not want to have a better financial status and life which Anwar - Ku Li are offering. Will the leaders, politicians and people look beyond the boundary of political party and accept something like this just for the sake of saving the country?

RM10/per day per prisoner

Assalamualaikum warahmatullah wabarakatuh,

It has been announced that there will be a proposal to increase the price of the meals for a prisoner for a day from RM5.80 to RM10.00. Wow! Is that better to live in the prison or starve living in the rural areas where the government has failed to develop? So, this is also a part of the tax payers' money goes...

Pure arrogance and undemocratic

Assalamualaikum warahmatullah wabarakatuh,

On Zaid Ibrahim's resignation, Pak Lah said:

"it does not depend on any one particular person to the extent that it will fall or be weak"

Listen to the way he said it here.

Furthermore, tell me if this is democratic:

“This is what happens when I allow ministers to speak. But it is good because the rakyat will know there are people in the Government who do speak out on the people’s opinions on certain issues. It can be a healthy democracy but it will not affect the position of the Government,”

Slow:

He just read the resignation a day after it has been submitted. Consider the letter as urgent, urgent matter should be taken into attention immediately. What about this emergency parliament session?

Clever Pak Lah

Assalamualaikum warahmatullah wabarakatuh,

I don't know if anyone will say or ever realise how clever Pak Lah is, or maybe it's the ideas from his son-in-law or 4th floor boys. Anyway, to make Najib the new Minister of Finance is basically hurting Najib political career. Why? First of all, the job of the Minister of Finance is to make sure that the country doesn't go bankrupt by making sure that the Budget is feasible and the country economy grows ever stronger. Have you ever seen the new Budget presented by Pak Lah just before the end of the parliamentary sitting last month? The next sitting will be to debate about the Budget which will definitely invite a lot of criticisms. Who will be there to shield Pak Lah? Najib.

Then, the world economy is going down. Big companies, especially banks and insurance companies are either closing down, selling or merging, like what happened to Lehman Brothers, AIG and so on. If these big companies are not doing well at all, how can the Malaysian companies survive the economy tsunami around the world? Even if the Minister of Finance has all the money to bail out big companies in Malaysia, these companies will still suffer from the world economy turmoil. Who will get the headache and blame? Najib.

That's why the swap is essential and has to be done IMMEDIATELY. That's how immediate it goes. Now Pak Lah is the Minister of Defence - controlling the armies. Will he employ these forces for his own benefits like how many are saying that Najib (the former Minister of Defence) had employed the forces to blow up his enemy? One thing for sure is that when you are the Minister of Defence and you always give benefits to the forces through your ministry, the forces will show 'obedience' to you even if the real Chief of Army is the Agong.

That's our Pak Lah and pity for Najib who thinks that this swap is confirming the transition of power of the number first post SOON. Najib credibility will be tested soon and if he failed, he shall be ousted SOON. Where is Rosmah nowadays?

Women of Malaysia

Assalamualaikum warahmatullah wabarakatuh,

Whenever the husbands fall, the wives stood up and became stronger than ever. That's the Malaysian women. No doubt that Wan Azizah is one of them, along with the wives of the ISA detainees. Today, we will witness another woman who used to fight behind her husband and now will stand for her husband - Marina Lee. Read her statement. Sound familiar? Was that similar to what Wan Azizah said 10 years ago for Anwar?

p/s: women have more advantage including gaining sympathy and supports.

So, it is not UMNO that started the MERDEKA process

Assalamualaikum warahmatullah wabarakatuh,

After watching this award-winning and outstanding documentary on Hartal - 10 years before Merdeka in Malaysia in 1947 posted on the People's Parliament, it was actually the WILL OF PEOPLE that brought the independence for Malaya, not a single party - UMNO - as has been 'educated' through history book in schools and UMNO who keeps on chanting that those who oppose UMNO are ungrateful for what UMNO had done to free the country. Again, it is not UMNO that brought Merdeka to the country, it is the PEOPLE - the multiracial and united PEOPLE. The slogan for UMNO has always been 'Hidup Melayu' and not 'Merdeka'. MERDEKA is only chanted by the PEOPLE who supported the Perlembagaan Rakyat opposing the Perlembagaan Federation which was supported by UMNO.

This is a documentary, telling the truth, certified by international film body, and made by our own locals:

The issues at that time were the same as now:

- The British was too arrogant, Rakyat hated it (sound familiar? Yeah, UMNO is arrogant at the moment)
- Rakyat thought that they would never be able to rise without the British (same to some Malays who think that without UMNO, the Malays will die of hunger)
- The British feared that when Rakyat came to realise that they can rule themselves, they would no longer need the British, so a lot of propaganda was spread through the pro-British newspaper (sound familiar again? That's exactly what the mainstream media nowadays do and that's why the blogs are spreading consciousness to the Rakyat)
- The Hartal took place in 1974 with a huge success, but the British totally ignored the voice of the Rakyat (look at Reformasi, Bersih, Hindraf - what did UMNO do?)
- The British announced a state of Emergency and arrested thousands of Rakyat who protested the British and demand Merdeka 10 years before 1957 (this was what exactly UMNO did after all these rallies in Malaysia, ever since the 1970s, today we saw a few were detained under ISA - a colonial law made by the British)

The question is, will the Rakyat win this time for a real MERDEKA after 16th September 2008 from UMNO like we did from the British? Same game, same rules, can't they be more creative? No wonder there is Sodomy II!

ISA

Assalamualaikum warahmatullah wabarakatuh,

If ISA can be used to detain three Malaysians (public and non-public figures) in less than 12 hours, WITHOUT TRIAL for 60 days, NO CHANCE TO DEFEND THEMSELVES and DENIED the RIGHT of a normal human being, let me tell you that if this ISA is not demolished, the same thing can happen to you and me too! Please urge your MPs to act sensibly. Either support the change of the law or the change of the government.

So, who's next? Koh Tsu Koon? Liow Tiong Lai? Ahamd Ismail? Khir Toyo? Utusan journalist? (err... they are all BNs, unless Gerakan & MCA are pulling out of BN) Anwar? Lim Guan Eng? Lim Kit Siang? Nik Aziz? Hadi? Karpal? Syed Husin? Tian Chua? Saifudin? - yet another Operasi Lalang.

ISA is used to prevent instability of the country - said Syed Hamid.

What? I thought ISA is creating instability of the country by detaining 3 Malaysians without trial and inciting fear among the Malaysians. Tell me, do you feel the country unstable today because of these 3 Malaysians or the government which resorts to ISA to survive?

We are Malaysians

Assalamualaikum warahmatullah wabarakatuh,

Anwar comeback - 101 East Aljazeera.

KJ said,

DAP is secular and the Islamic Party is ... and theocratic state and left to their own devices together, there's no way that these parties can come together.

I would say, we are Malaysians, you will find the seculars, the religious, you will find the different races, the educated, the ignorance, the non-religious, the agnostics , the atheists, the muslims, the christians, the hindus, the buddhists, the sikhs, etc. Yes, we are all different, but there is one thing that binds us all together, MALAYSIANS. So, what's the problem for a secular party and a theocratic party be in one alliance? As long as there is respect between each other, upholding the same value of anti-corruption, justice, anti-oppression, and all those good values either for the seculars or the religious, and for the different races and religions. Will the secular or the religious say no to justice? To anti-corruption? To prosperity? To anti-oppression? To welfare? To helping the poor and weak? Probably KJ should go back and study more in Oxford on SPS and write a thesis on the failure of racial-based politics.

Hold on brother hold on

The road is long. We’re on stony ground

But I’m strong. You ain’t heavy

Oh there’s a misspoken truth that lies

Colors don’t bind, oh no.

What do they know? They speak falsely.

Here in my home

I’ll tell you what its all about

There’s just one hope here in my heart

One Love undivided

That’s what it’s all about

Please won’t you fall in one by one by one [with me]?

Push back sister won’t you push back?

Love won’t wait. Just keep pushing on.

Yes I’m strong. You ain’t heavy.

Oh don’t you worry about that….

What we have the shadows can’t deny

Don’t you know it’s now or never?

Anwar is back in Parliament

Assalamualaikum warahmatullah wabarakatuh,

Anwar Ibrahim, finally, after 10 years, has come back to where he belongs. At the Permatang Pauh by-election today, he won with a majority of 15671 votes, higher than his wife. The BN candidate won 15524 votes, another candidate from Akim won only 92 votes, while Anwar won 31195 votes. The percentage turnout of the voters is 81%.

Will he swear in the Parliament on Thursday or will they delay his entrance until they have passed the DNA Bill?

Wassalam.

p/s: btw, this is what an ustaz says about saiful's sumpah, very educational.

Looking at Anwar walking up the stage today during the announcement of the by-election result, I whole-heartedly cannot believe that Saiful is being sodomised by Anwar out of the consent of Saiful himself. He swears that the sodomy was done out of his will, so it must Anwar that attacked him. But just look at the video below, seriously, Anwar can't even walk up the few steps of stair going up the stage, how on earth can he attack Saiful???

from minute 0.45 and also from minute 3.05

The court said it's consensual. The charge must be made after the police investigation, does this mean that the police actually did not take any statement from Saiful?

Sirah An-Nabi

Assalamualaikum warahmatullah wabarakatuh,

Let's learn a bit of the history of the Prophet Muhammad (saw) or the sirah an-Nabi today.

Before he was 40 years old, he lived like the rest of the Arabs in Makkah though he believed in a God, kind and generous to others, upheld great and noble personality, etc. He might be seen like the rest of the Makkans before that age though inside of him, he was different from them. When he received the revelation, he preached to his close family and friends, who some accepted it while some didn't. Later, we was commanded to preach Islam publicly and he started to receive opposition, insults, oppression, boycott, slanders, etc. His companions were caught and tortured, and even killed, he himself was insulted and beaten, though not half-dying. Some of his companions did leave Islam when they can't endure the torture but many of them stayed with him. When his power became greater, he gained more allies in and outside of Makkah (i.e., Madinah or Yathrib), the powerful, greedy and oppressive leaders of Makkah (except his uncle, Abu Talib) started to use violence to stop him. When it was in vain, they tried to bribe him, but it was no use. Then, they boycotted him and the muslims. When this was still no use, they plotted to kill him. So, he emigrated to Madinah on the invitation of the Madinans and started to strengthen the muslims. He gained more followers and support from in and out of Madinah. Some who stayed in the Makkah believed in him but couldn't move to Madinah due to certain interest that they have to keep to sustain their and their family's living. 6 years later, he tried to come back but was refused entrance but he succeeded the next year and in the coming year, he conquered Makkah without bloodshed. At that moment, he said to those who used to oppressed and tortured him and the muslims, "What should I do with you?". He didn't kill them nor punish them. He forgave them and set the free by saying that those who are in the house of Abu Suffian will be spared. Through his forgiveness and great success of toppling the leadership of the Makkah, more people became muslims until the whole Arabia peninsular took the shahadah.

Well, let's look at the situation of Anwar Ibrahim. Before he joined UMNO, he was known as the activist for the poor and oppressed. When he joined UMNO, he shocked many especially PAS and ABIM. Though inside the influence of UMNO, he still stood up as a clean politician. When he refused to submit to the will of the then PM and UMNO, he was accused. He carried a message of anti-corruption to the whole nation but his message was not the favour of those in power. Though his close aides and family supported his mission, it was not enough to help him through. He was accused of sodomy and much later corruption. Many of his close aides were caught by the police, they were tortured to admit Anwar's wrong doings (e.g., Darmawan, Azmin Ali). Those who refused to submit were jailed under ISA and made the Reformasi 10 while those who submitted were either soared in their careers or jailed temporary. He was beated till half-dying and jailed (sort of boycotted) for 6 years and on his release, he went to Germany to get repaired. During that interview, he said that he has forgiven everyone that framed him. Since he can't be politically active in Malaysia for another 4 years, he "emigrated" to Georgetown on the invitation of the University of Georgetown to become a visiting Professor for 2 years. While there, he gained more support from many people in and outside of Malaysia. He came back to Malaysia but was refused to be active in politics. The election was scheduled a month before the end of the ban. He said he will conquer the parliament by September 2008. If he really managed to topple the government, what will he do to his present enemies and opponents who are framing him now? I think we all know the answer.

If we just follow the example of the Prophet Muhammad (saw), what else can we lose? ALLAHUMMA SOLLI ALA MUHAMMAD.

ALLAHU'alam.

Wassalam.

Missing links

Assalamualaikum warahmatullah wabarakatuh,

Lately, Malaysians have been fed by a few cases of "missing persons". Yes, they are missing in the public, no media can reach them, no public can reach them, no truth can be revealed. They are either being represented by their lawyer or family or the police. They all have 1 common link - Najib Tun Razak, not Anwar Ibrahim.

First, we have the private investigator, P. Balasubramaniam who first exposed the close relationship between Najib and Altantuya and later retracted the declaration through a different lawyer. He went missing until today even though the police said that they know where he and his family are. I hope his nephew is happy with what the police guaranteed.

Second, we have the young man, Saiful Bukhari who accused Anwar for sodomising him. He was found to have seen Najib before lodging the police report, at least Najib admitted it later. He showed up in the government-owned TV station to put up some unislamic challenges but none other media journalist can reach him to ask him some questions. He is said under the protection of the police (err, from what?). His father made a request for the co-operation of Anwar for the investigation (in absent) through a lawyer who claimed to have seen the police report. His uncle also appeared at the press conference. Poor boy, the longer the investigation, the longer he has to hide himself from the public. I wonder when is he going to get married to his fiancee. No wonder his father and uncle have to eventually say something to help him get his FREEDOM as soon as possible. Surely, Najib did not jail this boy.

Third, is the Pusrawi Hospital doctor, Dr. Mohamed Osman Abdul Hamid. He is not a Malaysian but a Burmese. He is on leave at the moment. No one knows where he and his family are. Don't even know if they are alive or not. His link to Najib is that he examined Saiful Bukhari and reported that he was not sodomised by anyone, in fact Saiful was a very healthy young man, at that time, don't know now after 1 month of "imprisonment".

So, we have 3 missing persons and their families too. I hope they are still alive and will come out to tell the truth.

On another note, Rosmah also has shied away from the media. I don't know if anyone had spoken to Col. Aziz Buyong and Norhayati.

They were behind bars

Assalamualaikum warahmatullah wabarakatuh,

Many of the prominent leaders were used to be locked behind bars. I wonder if this kind of solitary helps one becomes stronger and reflective in their thinking? Or does this give them time to plan and think what to do to rectify the chaotic situation one was in? Maybe it would be great to read the autobiography of some of these historical leaders who had been sentenced to jail at least once in their lifetime.

Great examples like Nelson Mandela, Mahatma Ghandi, Malcolm X, etc.

In Malaysia, we have our very own Anwar Ibrahim, Lim Guan Eng, etc.

Maybe it's not a good idea to jail KJ, in case he become like Anwar after 16th Sept. We could just make him pay the fine if he was found guilty of corruption and then declare bankruptcy. What about Mr. & Mrs. Najib?

It's all about saving US

Assalamualaikum warahmatullah wabarakatuh,

I was shocked after reading this article.

At a G8 meeting in Japan:
On Saturday, five key energy-consuming nations, the United States, China, Japan, India and South Korea, all called on oil producers to increase output to try to control the soaring prices.
US Energy Secretary Samuel Bodman said: "It's not good for producing nations to see the US struggling economically. They depend on us to be a significant engine in world economic activity."
Mr Bodman said the subsidies in China and India had helped drive demand and so increase prices. "We know demand is increasing because a lot of nations are still subsidising oil, which ought to stop," he said."
The US means that it is the subsidies that increase the oil price - so stop it! If you stop the subsidies, people will not buy a lot of oil so the price will decrease (is this possible?!). It also means that your countries will suffer inflation and we, US will benefit from your inflation! That's why Venezuela (the biggest enemy of US) has the lowest oil price at the home market.

However, India & China ain't gonna submit to US demand:

India insists there is no agreement to remove the subsidies altogether.

Its representative at the talks on Saturday said the country was not ready to move to a position where the market decided the price its citizens should pay for oil.

China also made clear it had no time frame for moving towards lower subsidies, saying they needed to consider carefully how removing them might affect the country's social and political stability.

Why Malaysia has to submit to US and save their economy? Because we have floated the Ringgit currency, if US is down, we will down too (Read here to understand the impact of floating the Ringgit). Either way we will down - decrease subsidy and increase inflation or increase subsidy and destroy our currency. But I doubt the second will be worse than the first option. Anyway, the government decided to go for the first one to save US first thinking that this will save Malaysia too. I sure hope the government decision will save the poorest groups of the country. This is such a gamble.

RM2.70 per liter tomorrow, like it or not.

Assalamualaikum warahmatullah wabarakatuh,

According to the research by Merdeka Center, the biggest problem of the country is price hike and inflation(pg.8) and the Malays complained the most about this (pg.9), is the government or BN still not hear or are they deaf? The Merdeka Center reported that Pak Lah is not the reason for BN's defeat and Malays are still loyal voters to BN (go look at the report here pg.44-45), what's the problem with UMNO chanting the Malays have divided and Pak Lah should step down. No, I am not a supporter of Pak Lah but clearly the poll said that many still want Pak Lah to stay on as the PM (pg.12-16).

The problem is about price hike and inflation. Internet is not to be blamed, nor are the bloggers cos according to the poll, many disregard internet as a medium for election news (pg.22). All the factors that BN listed for their defeat in the last election are all not correct if the report by the Merdeka Center is accurate.

It is about price hike and inflation, don't you see? And you still want to raise the oil price and inflation. Wake up, for God's sake, and people's sake.

Forbes' 40 Richest Malaysians

Assalamualaikum warahmatullah wabarakatuh,

Alhamdulillah, according to Forbes, the 40 richest Malaysians have added $3 billions compare to last year into the list and now we have 10 billionaires in Malaysia. We have two sons of former PMs listed among the richest. We have 8 Malays, 28 Chinese and 4 Indians in the list. The youngest is Vinod Sekhar at the age of 40. He has since been listed at the age of 37.

These 40 richest own more than $46 billions or RM148 billions! Surely we have other rich Malaysians who are not listed here. If they all pay their taxes and zakat yearly and the money is distributed appropriately to the poor, needy and necessary development, surely Malaysia will be prosperous and at peace. If just these 40 richest pay their corporate tax of 26%, that would be RM39 billions for the government to spend on, just from 40 businessmen and this is just one form of tax we are talking here.

I went on to compare this with the Inland Revenue Board of Malaysia or LHDN (HASIL) to find out the total taxes that it has collected every year. To my great disappointment that the latest annual report from this board is 2005, no later than this. In the 2005 report, LHDN has collected RM56.85 taxes and it was projected that RM69 billions would be collected in 2007. The corporate tax on those 40 richest Malaysians has already preceded more than half if we are to take the same figure for 2008. Are the rest of millions other Malaysians poor or many are not paying taxes? Or rather, 60% muslim Malaysians pay zakat and not income tax to LHDN?
"Your wealth and your children are only a trial, whereas ALLAH, with HIM is a great reward" - Al-Quran, Surah At-Taghabun, verse 15.
At-Taghabun can mean the mutual disillusion or loss & gain. In verse 9, the word at-taghabun is used to describe the Day of Judgement. It is to remind us that all the wealth in this world has no use in the akhirah and our children that we give them channels to gain more wealth also will have no use to us on that Day. Wealth and children, are they losses or gains? Wealth (or excess money beyonds necessity) is to be shared not to be cumulated and counted. Stingy in Arabic has the same meaning as constipation. You keep those dirty and unwanted stuff in your intestines. Eventually, it will poison your stomach. Same to wealth that we don't need after we have fulfill our needs to live a life that enable us to worship ALLAH. Having only one child that is righteous and submit to ALLAH is better than having 10 children who corrupt the world.

Will Mahathir win?

Assalamualaikum warahmatullah wabarakatuh,

I think Mahathir is doing a great favour for Pak Lah who dare not do this in his authority. This here means kicking out Mahathir's men from UMNO, or basically clean UMNO from people that doesn't support him or those who remain loyal to Mahathir since the era of Mahathir.

Think about this, Mahathir resigned from UMNO and he urges UMNO members to follow suit. Who will listen to his urge if not his men? So, if they all resign from UMNO, I mean those who really support and loyal to Mahathir, won't that make it all easy for Pak Lah to cleanse UMNO, once and for all! We can see that in this new cabinet, already Pak Lah is doing his job in kicking out Mahathir loyalists.

If the mass resignation of Mahathir's men happened and Pak Lah stays cool until December, when the UMNO election comes or when the branch meeting starts in July, there will be more than 30% (cut off those who resign following Mahathir) support for Pak Lah since many others lost their right to vote against Pak Lah. Ku Li might be able to get a chance to compete but Ku Li's supporters are mostly Mahathir's men too.

If Pak Lah being patient until all the Mahathir's supporters or Pak Lah's haters resign and loose their right to vote against Pak Lah, he might still stand a chance to be in power after the UMNO election.

So, my dear 4th PM of Malaysia, you are making the wrong move because Pak Lah can already see the route to check mate! If he can't, I bet the 4th floor kids can. Pak Lah just has to be a little bit more patient. If he lost his patient, you might have a chance to win. We'll see, we'll see.

ALLAHU'alam.

Wassalam.

Pak Lah is winning

Assalamualaikum warahmatullah wabarakatuh,

Sayuti (MSO) in his blog mentioned that the reason for Mahathir to resign from UMNO while his son, Mukhriz stays is because they are planning a 2 ways attack on Pak Lah so that Pak Lah will fire Mukhriz and the pair will get sympathetic support from members of UMNO.

Unfortunately, up until now, this doesn't seem to be working. Probably Mahathir forgets that Pak Lah is NOT like Mahathir. He is softer than Mahathir, gentler, quieter, slower, steadier, more patient, he always tries his best to offend as least people as possible, he always tries to win the hearts like how he treated Tok Guru when he visited Tok Guru, holding Tok Guru's hand and showing respect.

Maybe Pak Lah really wants to kick Mahathir out of UMNO but he waited until Mahathir quits himself. If Pak Lah kicked Mahathir out, surely everyone will condemn Pak Lah and label him as ungrateful to Mahathir who hand-picked him to become PM. Pak Lah must be rejoicing in his heart, that's why he said nothing about Mahathir resignation.

It is the hearts of the people that Pak Lah is up to and Mahathir is way behind Pak Lah in this aspect. Mahathir has done lots of good to the country but he always lost in winning people's hearts. He can build this and that but in doing so, he usually trashed people. People listened to him but it doesn't mean that he won people's hearts. It is because most of the time, people feared him. We have Rafidah crying for him when he announced his retirement from PM but today Rafidah condemned that Mahathir is being disloyal to UMNO. Back then in 2003, did Rafidah's heart really go with Mahathir?

ALLAHU'alam.

Wassalam.

Mukhriz's not quitting

Assalamualaikum warahmatullah wabarakatuh,

I knew it, I knew it, I knew that Mukhriz is not going to quit UMNO cos if he quited now, he is soooooooo going to be defeated in the UMNO Youth Chief election in December. Not gonna let Khairy, Khir Toyo and Pahang MB to win this post.

On the other hand, on Mahathir's blog, he is proposing that BN MPs to become FROGS - jump out of BN so that BN will loose the majority to form a government but the FROGS should not join Pakatan Rakyat, rather they should be independent until Pak Lah is no more in power and later JUMP back into BN so that UMNO can still be in-charged of the country. By then, Malaysia will be in serious trouble with very instable political situation, who is going to invest in Malaysia at that time?

When Mahathir talks about FROG MPs, it's alright but when Anwar is talking about it, it's completely immoral. Both claim to be doing it for the sake of the country. I wonder if these FROG MPs who are listening to Mahathir will get anything from him or his ally? Payment for 3 generations to be rich?

Mahathir quits UMNO

Assalamualaikum warahmatullah wabarakatuh,

If you are not a member of an organisation, you basically have no right to do anything about that organisation. Have you thought about this before you took that challenge of Ismail?

If you demanded Pak Lah to quit the position of the president of UMNO, your voice is not a member's voice. If you demanded Pak Lah to quit the chairman of BN, again your are not the member of any of the component parties (MIC, perhaps?). If you demanded Pak Lah to quit the PM position, you are only speaking as a Rakyat now, timid and unheard, why not join the Pakatan Rakyat?

So, you can descend from the public now since you are no one at the moment until you said you will join back UMNO after Pak Lah quits.

Btw, what is your principle of Chipsmore biscuit - kejap ada kejap tak ada - that you think can resolve UMNO's problem? Maybe you want to give Pak Lah a peaceful mind to run UMNO and the country until December. I bet Pak Lah must be jumping up and down at home when he got the news of your resignation. As a president of an organisation, he has to take care of the welfare of all the members. Since this stubborn and difficult member opts to withdraw his membership, won't a president be happy?

Anyway, I heard that your membership number is 000 001, so you are the first member of UMNO BARU which is formed in 1988. You guys are younger than the rest of the component parties in BN, how come you guys still lead BN? If you are in the REAL UMNO that fought for independence since 1946, surely member number 000 001 is the late Onn Jaafar, right? So, happy 20th anniversary to UMNO BARU!

You are making this whole thing easy now for Pak Lah by quitting. Is this your objective?

ALLAHU'alam.

Wassalam.

p/s: is Mukhriz going to join this too or is he too afraid to loose his chance to compete in the UMNO Youth? Let's see...

Sedition

Assalamualaikum warahmatullah wabarakatuh,

As many have known that the Blogger King - King Petra or Raja Petra Kamarudin who is now under the risk of being charged under the Sedition Act for his honest and personal posting of an on-going murder court trial, it is seen yet again another political game to weaken the opposition though RPK said he is not supporting the opposition. Let's have a look at the meaning of sedition according to a dictionary website. It means:
1.incitement of discontent or rebellion against a government.
2.any action, esp. in speech or writing, promoting such discontent or rebellion.
Anything that promotes rebellion or goes against the government is sedition. The famous wikipedia can only list 3 countries that practice sedition act namely US, Singapore and Malaysia! According to the act under section 3(1) (a), any act defined as having a seditious tendency to bring into hatred or contempt or to excite disaffection against any Ruler or against any Government. It literally means that no one can go AGAINST the Ruler and Government, even showing tendency and intention. In this case, I think many Malaysians can be easily charged under this act, not just bloggers and opposition newspaper reporters, not just RPK and not just this one article on the murder trial. What about the 'Pak Lah sleeping beauty' photos on websites and even on banners during the election? What about Imam Hadhari - ada had ada hari campaign on blogs? What about the Terengganu state assemblymen who went against the Ruler? What about going against Selangor Ruler's will to marry his princess secretly abroad?

Probably it's this act that Samy Velu failed to protect the Hindu temple from the demolition by the Selangor GOVERNMENT cos stopping it is against the Selangor Government. Probably it's this act that MCA & MIC are so tame under UMNO cos it's against the the Government if they go against UMNO's president who happens to be a bumiputra, a muslim, the BN Chair and the PM, the Head of the Government, most importantly. Probably it's this act that Lina Joy will never win her case cos it's seditious to go against the Rulers who protect the religious affair. Probably it's this act that Perak MB has to apologise to the Ruler for 'firing' Jamry cos it's against the Ruler and the Federal Government.

So, if Khir Toyo on his blog has any tendency to go against and to spread hatred toward the Selangor GOVERNMENT, can we charge him with this act too? What about other UMNO's new bloggers who speak against the opposition GOVERNEMTs? Ops, sorry, these are not GOVERNMENT, right, in the eyes of the Federal Government?

Ok, what about Chedet who is bringing hatred toward Pak Lah, the PM and the Head of the GOVERNMENT through his campaign on bringing down and go against the PM? Can we bring Chedet down with this act too? If so, come on Karpal, let's open a file and charge him so that the GOVERNMENT will learn a lesson and do not abuse this act.

Oh no, we can't do that, they are the INFALLIBLE and PROTECTED ones, even under the Australian law!

p/s: will I be charged too? :S

UMNO's blogs

Assalamualaikum warahmatullah wabarakatuh,

When I look at the blogs of the UMNO's leaders (those newly created after the recent election), I can't help wonder who designed the layout for them, especially the Header banner. I am not saying that they are ICT-illiterated, but it really takes a lot to do the Header banner if you don't know how to use any graphic designing tool like Adobe Photoshop, Macromedia Illustrator or any sort of technology similar to these. I can't help finding similarities between their blogs. See Khir Toyo, Ali Rustam, Muhammad Muhd Taib and Mahathir.

How many bloggers can design that type of Header banner? See Rocky's Bru, Marina Mahathir, Nuraina A Samad, etc., very simple.

Of course, the contents of what they are writing are really from these UMNO's leaders. My point is, is this a collective initiave by UMNO after they woke up from the political tsunami? Can they still say negative statements about the bloggers as some of them used to say?

Anwar is the top 100 Times Most Influential People

Assalamualaikum warahmatullah wabarakatuh,

It is announced that Anwar Ibrahim is at 85th rank of the 2008 Times 100 Most Influential People. This puts him well above Bush, Blair, Rice and even the Dalai Lama. Since there's no other Malaysian in the list, so is he the most influential people in Malaysia?

This will become a backfire

Assalamualaikum warahmatullah wabarakatuh,

The more measures the federal government is doing to control the state money, those 5 states that are under the opposition, the more people will hate the government - BN. First, the cancellation of MoU on tourism in these states. Then channeling federal fund through ministers to the local councilors and now fund to SEDC into MARA. And now you want to scrap all the developmental projects in these states which have already written in the long-term Malaysian plan. You want to make the opposition states bankrupt, means that you want people to suffer. I don't understand what type of government who is really caring for the people will like to see the people suffer. This means that the government is just doesn't care.

If you know that you loose the states because the non-Malays did not vote you, and now you are giving more money to MARA - an organisation that only benefits the Malay - you are making it worse than ever. And you announced it in Penang, a non-Malay populated state. You are committing a suicide.

The more you are squeezing these states, the stronger they will be. Why? It's like the more you suppressed the non-bumiputra in Malaysia in economy, education and politics, the stronger they are. Kelantan over the past 18 years has slowly decrease the debt. I bet the rest of the states will be able to do so.

And oh, one more thing. Now that the rumour (or plan?) about the opposition is going to take over the parliament or the federal government soon, I mean soon, your plans will just become models for the next federal government to evaluate and implement on states that you are controlling now! What if the opposition use the same strategies that you have used? Don't you think any deeper and long-sighted?

I seriously cannot believe how short-sighted BN is. You are not doing this for the good of the people, not for the good of the states, not for the good of the country, not for the good of the next election and most importantly not good for your own self! You are slowly killing yourself because you only give more excuse to people not to support you in the future, either when opposition takes over, or in the next election. Stop main busuk lah!

Think deeper for the people.

Celebrity speaker

Assalamualaikum warahmatullah wabarakatuh,

Today, a friend of mine who is working in a conference management company in London told me that to hire Anwar Ibrahim for a 45-min speech, the minimum fee is GBP10,000 .00. This is not a joke and it is in the official hire list of celebrity speaker. Some celebrity speakers can go up to GBP25,000.00 to hire. So, treasure the opportunity to listen to his speech before you have to pay for it.

Nepotism in UK and EU

Assalamualaikum warahmatullah wabarakatuh,

European Parliament completely bans any MP to employ any of their family member or relatives to work at any government sector they are holding the portfolio. UK has more than 100 MPs who are employing their family members and relatives using taxpayers money. Wonder why this form of corruption was not mentioned during the BBC Hardtalk. This article is taken from BBC.

More than 100 MPs have declared family members they employ using their taxpayer-funded expenses.

The list of 106 includes the home secretary, environment secretary and the standards committee chairman.
A register of employed relatives was set up after revelations about Tory MP Derek Conway's payments to his son. It is will become compulsory in August.
There is no rule against MPs employing relatives but the European Parliament has voted to ban the practice for MEPs.
Home Secretary Jacqui Smith lists her husband, Richard Timney, as a "senior research/parliamentary assistant", which attracts a salary of between £27,780 and £40,052.

Voluntary register

Sir Stuart Bell, one of the senior MPs looking at expenses, employs his wife, Margaret Bell, as office manager.
Housing Minister Caroline Flint's husband, Phil Cole, is employed in the same role, as is Tory MP and standards committee chairman Sir George Young's daughter, Camilla Young.
Environment Secretary Hilary Benn's wife, Sally Clark, is listed as his "research/parliamentary assistant", attracting a salary of between £14,212 and £34,240.
Others to declare relatives on the register include shadow home secretary David Davis, former work and pensions secretary Peter Hain and former Tory leader Michael Howard.
The register was set up at the recommendation of the Standards and Privileges Committee, following the revelations about Mr Conway.

'Severe consequences'

It emerged in January that he had paid his son Freddie more than £40,000 over three years for work as a Parliamentary researcher, despite him being a full time student in Newcastle.
He was suspended from Parliament for 10 days and was ordered to repay £13,161. Mr Conway also lost the Conservative whip.
Sir George, as standards chairman, has warned fellow MPs of "severe consequences" if they could not show they were "beyond reproach" in the way they employed relatives.
The register is currently voluntary but will be compulsory by 1 August.
It is likely more will come forward. The current list amounts to 54 Labour MPs, 39 Conservatives, eight Liberal Democrats, one independent, two DUP and two SNP MPs.
But in February Tory leader David Cameron said "just over" 70 of his MPs employed family members.
Five MPs employ more than one relative - including husband and wife DUP MPs Peter and Iris Robinson.

Expenses review

Mrs Robinson employs their son Jonathan as office manager and daughter-in-law, Mr Robinson employs their daughter and other son.
There are no rules against employing relatives and previously there had been no obligation to declare them publicly.
Shadow Commons leader Theresa May said: "In principle, there is nothing wrong with employing family members, but it is important that we have openness and transparency so that the system is not abused."
But Matthew Elliott, of the pressure group the Taxpayers' Alliance, said the employment of relatives was "completely outdated" adding: "To dispel any suspicion that they are taking advantage of taxpayers' generosity, this practice should be banned once and for all."
MPs only have to give job titles of employed relatives - they do not have to spell out details of the work they do.
A "root and branch" review by the Commons estimates committee into MPs' allowances and pay is expected to report in the autumn.

Can Malaysia also have a register of employed relatives? Along with the declaration of assets.

Mahathir on BBC Hardtalk

Assalamualaikum warahmatullah wabarakatuh,

I am not a supporter or opponent of Mahathir but I really respect the way that he answered the questions by Stephen Sackur the the latest BBC Hardtalk. Calm, confident, clear and though he has been sacked until he was breathelss in answering the questions, he still has the opportunity to sack back Stephen and question him. Such a quality of a debater should be a model of the leaders of the country. I am not saying that everyone has to follow any of his negative examples (if there is), but in a talk like this when you and your country are severely attacked by foreigner, you need to learn how to defend your country like Mahathir. Like it or not Mahathir is still a very respectful person, even in the eyes of the West or they won't quote his sayings and be cautious about him.

I would also like to give a credit to Mahathir for his effort in developing the human resources in Malaysia. He reformed the educational system after giving a comprehensive report on Malaysian education in 1979. After that, we have so many educated citizens who read, write, criticise and think openly. His coin of paradigm shift has really shifted the mindset of many Malaysians hence today we can see how reformation led by the opposition is no more a naive fighting but sounds intellectual and clever. Mahathir has given a lot of thoughts in building the nation and despite all other corruptions and wrong doings in his government, he still managed to put Malaysia in the eyes of the world and made us Malaysians proud to be Malaysians, with many who are educated, open-minded, motivated, ambitious and capable to lead the country both politically and economically.

I would think that if he had not said anything after this recent election, many of his faults will not be dug up and he will remains as the best Prime Minister of Malaysia. Anyway, probably it is the time for justice. Only ALLAH's scale will be the most just. No matter how we weigh the good and the bad, we will not be able to tell if a person is more to good or bad because we are just humans who have no power over anything. So, there is no point of finding someone's contributions and faults and then weigh out if the person is really doing good or bad to the country. Let's just look at the good side, not the black dot on a white wall, for every human.

The 2008 TIME 100 most influential people in the world

Assalamualaikum warahmatullah wabarakatuh,

Credit to Chegubard who posted this. Anwar Ibrahim is one of the finalists for the 2008 TIME 100 most influential people. As I am still writing this post, he is in 7th place. What a pride of Malaysians (ok, not all Malaysia, especially his political opponents). I wonder where is Mahathir or Pak Lah? Aren't they once the chairman of OIC and NAM? Hmm, they are definitely not in the 200 finalists as I have scrolled through them all.

A blog without the link to give a comment

Assalamualaikum warahmatullah wabarakatuh,

A blog without the link to give a comment is like a 1-way debate that many politicians in Malaysia prefer. You say A today in a press conference and the opponent will say B in another press conference the next day or days later. You can keep going on for ages, like what you see now PM and Mahathir are doing. You attack me today saying that I made UMNO deregistered, I'll attack you tomorrow saying that actually you are the one that made it happened; you are still not happy with me, you give me another blow that I should change the quota system, then I'll tell you that it's your fault that the quota system is still there; then you said that if I am truly democratic, I should abolish the quota system but I said that you are the one that made UMNO undemocratic. This can go on and on and then there is no conclusion left for the people, no facts, no figures, no proof of what they are claiming. Yet, they still can do this kind of 1-way debate. When you invite them together for an open debate, they say no cause they know that they will loose and they can't afford to loose. They said, there's no need to even care about the invitation to a debate.

You write your post today on your blog and you can say whatever you like cause you know that no one can say that you are wrong. There will be no comments. When you wrote this post on your blog, you thought that no one can say that you are giving the wrong facts cause there is no way that readers can put their comments on your blog to refute your un-basis attack. But you are wrong. People still can give their comments else where and finally you have to take that post away from your blog. Today, I can't find this controversial post anymore on your blog.

This is my comment to your blog.

BBC News report - Robin Brant

Assalamualaikum warahmatullah wabarakatuh,

"we are not in hurry" - that's what Anwar Ibrahim said.

Since we can't trust mainstream media (MSM) and alternative media, let's see what foreign media like BBC News reports about Malaysian politics.
"Mr Anwar was sacked by Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad in 1998"

"Mr Anwar's supporters jeered the police but dispersed peacefully"
In another report by BBC News:
"Now there are strong signs that he [PM] does not intend to fight on for much longer, says the BBC's Robin Brant, in Kuala Lumpur."

Let's stop politicking and get the work started!

Assalamualaikum warahmatullah wabarakatuh,

It has been more than one month now since the last election but our dear politicians are still politicking instead of putting their 100% mind and effort in fulfilling their promises to help those voters who have given their trust to them. UMNO is still in a mess of trying to gain people's confidence. Too bad, too late. Mahathir, Ku Li, et al. are trying their best to preach UMNO members to push away Pak Lah's team in UMNO while Pak Lah, KJ, et al. are trying to uproot Mahathir's team by replacing his team members into the new Cabinet and of course the next UMNO party election in December. Witch-hunting has become a part of political game. Both sides just can't stop finding the other side's faults. Funnily, many wrongs have been accused but not many cases are brought to investigation and legal action. People who don't have first-hand information can only wander who is telling the truth.

On the opposition side, the midnight of 15th April 2008 has been long waited. Will Anwar Ibrahim be welcome into the parliament again? We shall wait another 5 months because any by-election can only take place after 6 months from the election day. And he is obviously politicking. Fair enough, he doesn't have a constituency to look after but people around him (friends or enemies) who have their own constituencies to take care of should just do their work and let others who have nothing to chase Anwar. Pak Lah has been travelling to Sabah & Sarawak (using whose money?) to make sure that none of his people will "jump" to the opposition. I wonder what is happening to his people in Kepala Batas. Hope they still get what they were promised during the election from Pak Lah.

Azalina has launched the first cannon to the opposition by stopping any money to the opposition's states through the sector of tourism. A psychological war to punish the people and to pressurise them to reject the opposition in the future. All the states are in debts. Without any income from the federal government, you literally cannot survive. That's what happening to Kelantan in these past 18 years. Kelantan has to look for investors who do not support the ruling coalition and also those out of Malaysia. Nizar asked for 100 days before the public make any evaluation. I am not being pessimistic, but if there is no assistance from the federal government and the rebellious Ketua Kampung are still politicking until May, it is really difficult to show your true performance by mid-June 2008. At least to ensure a positive evaluation, Perak is really concentrating in doing something for the people. Not much news about Kedah except rumours of "jumping" will happen. Perlis & Terengganu have ended the issue with the Sultans and hope they are doing some good to the people there. Selangor is underfired because Khir Toyo is not going to sit down quietly and see Khalid soars in the decision on boars, though he has resign as the UMNO Selangor Cheif, now he needs to do more publicity so by the end of this year, he will win the position of UMNO Youth Cheif.

MIC, MCA, Gerakan, etc. are very quiet now. Samy Velu said that he will continue to be the president of MIC for another term though he has lost his parliamentary seat in the last election. Many of the MIC candidates have also lost their seats due to the Hindraf issue. So, MIC is not going to say much to the media nowadays except for Samy Velu to make up his own mess by asking the release of the Hindraf detainees. In MCA, Ong Ka Ting has been condemned by some MCA senoir members to be too Pak turut that he only nodes his head to all the decisions made by Pak Lah. That's why MCA lost quite a number of seats to PKR and DAP. Gerakan? Do you need me to say anything about this? The whole Penang cannot accept Gerakan anymore and the gentleman Koh Tsu Koon admitted the defeat is partly his party's fault and wante to help Lim Guan Eng in making sure that the Penangites enjoy better development under the DAP government. I hope many MPs and state assemblymen are truly working for the people instead of politicking, either in their own parties or trying to win back states or the whole federal government.

People want to end the corruption cycle as well as the abuse of national policies that only give benefits to selected groups of people who manipulated these policies for theirs and their families profits. That's why more and more people have chosen to vote for the opposition, not more of the reason that they accept the opposition (though some are) but more of because they reject BN which has been demonstrating very obvious corrupted track records in these recent years. Those who have voted for the opposition should come to a true realisation that they also have to abandon their desire to commit any form of corruption, no more if-you-choose-me-to-be-in-charged-
I'll-give-you-"lubang"-to-"rob"-taxpayers'-money
. You want to earn money, then you work for it, not by selling or investing your vote during an election thinking that you will have the next five years of prosperity and harvesting. If you are so despise of the corrupted behaviour of the ruling coalition that you decided not to vote for them, you should be feeling the same for your ownself - hate yourself if you ever thought of committing one.

To offer RM80 millions to buy an opposition state assemblyman to "jump" over to BN is obviously a form of corruption; so to persuade some 30 or so BN MPs to "jump" over by offering this and that (like Deputy PM to the recently-resigned-minister), isn't that a form of corruption? Corrupted leaders will only breed corrupted followers, how can we ever end this cycle? I don't think there will be 100% working for the people until either Anwar Ibrahim gets what he wants or Pak Lah stands down and someone (either Ku Li or Najib or ...) gets what he wants.

On FITNA

Assalamualaikum warahmatullah wabarakatuh,

The people in Denmark are indeed feeling very sorry for what Geert Wilders did and to compensate that, many people from Denmark have made lots of movie with the same title of FITNA THE MOVIE so that many viewers will be failing to watch the documentary. This is what the common message when they uploaded their "sorry movie".
We are sorry! You too? Check: http://www.mediamatic.net/ Please make a video with the title "Fitna" saying you're sorry for Wilders's behavior, so his film will be lost between all the fake fitna-videos. Thank you!

Is it still fair to boycott the Danish products? I don't know. Probably it's better to urge the Danish to stop voting for Geert Wilders. Have a look at the below article
taken from here.

As many muslims around the world have come to know the broadcasting of a 15-min documentary produced by a Dutch party's leader, Geert Wilders, called Fitna, hosted by LiveLeak.com, there have been up-roars in many muslim countries around the globe. The title of the film speaks for itself what is the intention of the film. Before I talk about the title, just look at the track record of the producer. He is clearly a great supporter of Israel, an enemy of Islam for his remarks, a follower of US policy and a very insecure person for his absent in parliament and special seat in the parliament due to safety reasons. He is also hunger of power as he left a party that he has joined for a long time and formed a new party using his name but then changed to a party that uses 'Freedom' as the name of the party. Clearly he needs to learn what does 'freedom' mean.

Al-fitnah has been interpreted with so many meanings, even the wikipedia has a say in this - "disagreement and division among people", or a "test of faith in times of trial". Ibn Kathir in interpreting Surah al-Baqarah verse 217 said that in the verse "Al-Fitnah is worse than killing", al-Fitnah means "trying to force the Muslims to revert from their religion and re-embrace Kufr after they had believed". Ibn Kathir also said that al-Fitnah can mean "what you (disbelievers) are committing" or "shirk or polytheism". In Surah al-Anfal verse 39, Ibn Kathir said that al-Fitnah is "Muslim is persecuted so that he abandons his religion"

In Surah Yunus verse 85, al-Fitnah is interpreted by Ibn Kathir as trial, trial from the wrongdoers, from those who denied the truth and covered it. In Surah al-Ankabut verse 10, al-Fitnah is a trial that "trial is leaving Islam if they are made to suffer for Allah".

Clearly al-Fitnah is a trial, temptation, persecution, torture and any other form of saying and action that can lead muslims into disbelieving after believing. Leading believers to disbelieving is a form of mischief or corruption. It is no wonder that many muslims call for the death of the documentary producer. But if we know that what he is spreading is al-Fitnah, we as muslims should try our best to prevent the al-Fitnah from spreading among the muslims. Since the documentary has been produced, killing the producer will not solve the problem, but by stopping the spread of the message of this documentary and trying to explain the fitnah that this documentary is trying to spread inshaALLAH can help stop the fitnah.

I am glad that no other channel is hosting this documentary and so muslims should stop spreading this documentary as it carries fitnah. If the producer kept spreading the fitnah, we have the responsibility to stop him because clearly in the Qur'an ALLAH has commanded us to stop the fitnah wherever we find it but if they stop spreading fitnah, we should cease.

I really hope that muslim scholars can provide interpretations of the below verses quoted in the documentary in a more contemporary and in-context method so that both muslims and non-muslims can truly understand the message sent down by the Most Merciful and Most Gracious Lord of All Mankind:

8: 60; 4: 56; 47: 4; 4: 89; 8: 39

The producer urges the muslims to tear off half of the Qur'an because he thinks that half of the Qur'an encourage terrorism but he only quoted 5 verses from more than 6000 verses of the whole Qur'an, which is less than 0.0008% and of course these 0.0008% of verses of the Qur'an do not permit terrorism. It is only in the hearts of those who have yet studied the real meanings of these verses, the stories behind the revelation of these verses and hadiths related to them that they think that these verses permit terrorism. If only they come to realise how Merciful ALLAH is and how the Prophet Muhammad (saw) is sent down as a mercy to all mankind...

So, please study the whole Qur'an, Arabic, Hadith, 'Ulum al-Qur'an, Asbab an-Nuzul before you make another documentary regarding any verse in the Qur'an, or you are just an ignorant politician.

To all muslim brothers and sisters, please let's not be emotional in facing this fitnah. I don't know if demanding the death of the producer or boycotting Danish products is a way out of this or is it the same as what the Zionists do to the Palestinians - collective punishment? This is because many Danish have expressed their apologies to the muslims and claimed that the politician doesn't represent their views. Read here. No matter what it is, let's fight evil with good as what the Prophet (saw) preached and turn this trial into a chance to make da'wa.

How blogging changes the country - Part III (Popularity)

Assalamualaikum warahmatullah wabarakatuh,

Following the previous two posts on how blogging has changed the country, this post will continue to further elaborate the use of blogs among politicians where the drum of cyberwar will start beating, soon.

As many bloggers have known that the ex-MB of Selangor has started his blog and he said that it is truly his own writing and comment. Up to this moment, there are nearly 900 comments written on his two posts. This proves how popular he is, not that popular for positive reasons but most of the comments are asking him to make explanations and worse to condemn his actions before this, especially the position of UMNO & BN in persecuting the bloggers before the election. He should put a counter to see how many visitors to his blog, probably he can beat Millionaire Marina very soon.

Now that the ex-MB of Selangor has opened up the opportunity for people to ask him questions directly regarding his position as the opposition in Selangor and probably his ambition to become the Chief of Pemuda UMNO, we surely hope that many other politicians from BN will follow suit. The politicians in BA/BR have already been doing this even before the election and blogging surely has raised their popularity among the voters. BN should learn from this too.

In another case, for the first time, Khairy Jamaluddin who has descended from the main stream media after being accused as the main reason for the failure of BN in this election, he suddenly gave his response to a blogger, Susan Loone on the Penang land accusation. There have been so many blogs and posts in the blogosphere that accuse him in so many different matters but he has never given any response to them, especially the Antikhairy blog when the main stream media is no more an effective channel to do so since many are boycotting it now? Is it because really takes . Interestingly, this time he said something and Susan tried to verify it by asking his mobile number. If it is truly himself that replied, I wonder why now? Is it because Susan is a popular blogger that he has to reply? Is it because this is the only wrong accusation while other accusations in so many blogs and posts before this are all correct? Is it because now that he think that whatever written in blogs can have big impact in his political career that he cannot ignore them anymore if he wanted to be PM by the age of 40? Is it because this is the time to gain popularity through blogosphereBN is the opposition now in Penang, so it is the time to challenge the new MB of Penang like many other are trying to bring down the government in Perak, Selangor, Kedah & Kelantan? No matter what the reason is, I hope this kind of development in blogosphere should bring some positive impact into the cyberwar. If the new MB of Penang answered KJ's request to carry out an investigation, I would be happy with that because it proves that whatever said in the blog is not just ranting but is taken seriously by the politicians.

What the bloggers want is truth. No matter how the politicians and bloggers arrange their strategies and tactics in winning the cyberwar, we pray that only truth will surface at the end. Postal Vote

Assalamualaikum warahmatullah wabarakatuh,

There have been a lot of articles and posts regarding postal vote. This is not to summarise them but just to let you know the experience of one of friends who tried to exercise her right to vote outside Malaysia.

The nomination day is on 24th February 2008. The postal votes must reach the polling station by 5.00pm of 8th March 2008. This leaves the voters 13 days to post your votes or less because you need to wait until the nominations are confirmed and then SPR will print the postal ballots to be sent to the High Commission or wherever that they can reach the eligible postal voters, and then you got your postal ballots, cast your votes and then post it back home to Malaysia and not just to KL but to the polling station where your votes belong to. All these in 13 days or less! Say the nominations (with or without stamps!) got confirmed on 24th February 2008, late evening and send to printing. 25th February 2008 (we are talking about high efficiency here, hello Malaysians!) the postal ballots are printed and posted. Let's say an express postage to countries out of Malaysia will take 2 days, ordinary postage takes 1-2 weeks. So, you can start vote out of Malaysia on 28th February 2008. Say you really are a good citizen, you voted on 28th February 2008 and ask the person in-charged to post it, or you want to post it yourself. Let's make another express post since you want to post it yourself, don't mind spending more money for that. So, it will definitely reach the polling station before 8th March 2008.

Come back to the reality. Are we that efficient? My friend who is eligible to cast a postal vote went to vote about a week before the polling day. She was refused her right not because they think that she will vote for 'dodgy' candidates but their reason is because the vote will only reach the polling station 3 weeks later! They said there is no use of making a postal vote from UK. So, they really are not using express postage service. That means that the postal ballots are also not going to reach the embassy outside Malaysia in time to be filled in. Hmm... So, how come there are thousands of postal votes? Did the postal votes arrive by 5pm on 8th March 2008? or after midnight?

In addition, before you are eligible to make a postal vote, you need to fill in Form A at the High Commission on your arrival in any country out of Malaysia where you know that you will not be in Malaysia on the polling day (proven by your visa). How many of the eligible voters of Malaysians really fill in this form? Or do they know that such a form exists?

Can someone from SPR publish the statistics of postal votes?

I doubt they will.

No need to apologise

Assalamualaikum warahmatullah wabarakatuh,

One day when the companions were sitting with the Prophet Muhammad (saw), came a man entering the mosque. The Prophet (saw) said that this man will be a member of the Paradise. One of the companions was curious and decided to stay with him for a few days to see what extra worships was he doing that guaranteed him such a high status in the life after death. For those days, he did not pray extra night prayers, he did not make voluntary fast and other special kind of worship, except those which are obligatory. He was puzzled. Later he realised that his secret was before he slept.

Every night, before the man went to sleep, he pardoned everyone. By his kindness in forgiving everyone that interacted with him, he is guaranteed a place in the Paradise.

If ALLAH is the Most Forgiving, how can we as HIS servant not even try to be forgiving to our fellow brothers and sisters? Even in the case of qisas, we are given 3 options in the Qur'an if someone killed a member of our family - kill the murderer only, demand blood money or forgive the murderer. And of course, forgiving is better than the rest as ALLAH is the Most Forgiving and will be the ultimate Judge on the Day of Judgement.

Shirk

Assalamualaikum warahmatullah wabarakatuh,

I am not a scholar to discuss this super-heavy weight topic but since someone has asked about it, I think there is a need to explain my position. I thank the person for pointing it out in my previous post and this is just a response, no intention to

First of all, if there is any doubt about someone's intention, it is better to ask directly than make a guess, which the commentor did. So, my answer is, I don't have the intention to make the theory preceding ALLAH's destiny. It is just a joke and guesses as I stated at the end of the post.

Second, what is shirk? Interestingly wikipedia has an answer. Is making a guess of the future a shirk? Is predicting what will happen next a shirk? If so, then all the research that trying to predict or extrapolate the result to forecast the future is a form of shirk. Don't do weather forecast. Most of the research generates theories. RAHMAN is just a very weak theory which of course has not been properly researched and tested. I have never claimed that I believe in it or to say it scientifically, accept the 'theory'.

Third, shirk is associating ALLAH with other beings. The Prophet Muhammad (saw) said that he doesn't worry about his ummah in committing shirk because the teaching of tawhid is clear from shirk, rather he has more worry on the temptation of wealth. It is really difficult for a person who has come to know about the existance of only one God and no other to come to believe that there can be other being that is more powerful to predict the future and destiny. If the person in the first place has not had this kind of understanding of tawhid, it is easy to slip into shirk. The Prophet (saw) also said that the shirk that he worried the most is the minor shirk or Ar-Riya' (proud of oneself) and then is the secret shirk (showing off). I can see how this can easily happen to muslims who have tawhid. You worship the One God but you show off and proud of yourself for doing that. No doubt that is a form of shirk.

So, there are two sets of different curricula for different groups of muslims. One group who know they are muslims but don't really understand tawhid, let them know what is tawhid first before accusing them committing shirk. The other group is those who know about tawhid, don't worry about major shirk because it is difficult to turn back, the Prophet (saw) doesn't even worry about that, so teach them what are minor shirk and secret shirk. That would be more useful to them.

So, let's stop accusing people committing major shirk, in most cases either they don't really understand tawhid yet or they have no such intention to commit the biggest sin in Islam. In the case of accusing people committing minor or secret shirk, how can we judge a person's intention? So let's just only look at ourselves in this matter.

R.A.H.M.A.N.

Assalamualaikum warahmatullah wabarakatuh,

Somehow some Malaysians do believe in the RAHMAN theory as the initials for the order of the Malaysian Prime Ministers. Some might believe it's just nonesense. Let's see how it works:

R.ahman - Tunku Abdul Rahman Putra al-Haj
A.bdul Razak (R?) - Tun Abdul Razak Hussein
H.ussein - Tun Hussein Onn
M.ahathir - Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamed
A.bdullah - Dato Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi
N.? - Najib? Nazri? Nik Aziz? or Nazrin (Raja Muda Perak)? or not going to follow this theory? Cause the now Deputy PM might have no chance to be PM as there are two competitors who are up for this juicy post - Tengku Razaleigh (Ku Li) and Anwar Ibrahim.

See Malaysia Today and MSO.

They might get it because one is R and one is A if we do the cycle again. Let's say Najib got it, so we retain the N. The next cycle would probably, maybe, perhaps,...:

R - Razaleigh? So he get there first? or Rafidah Aziz who has been kicked out by PM from his cabinet this round. Can't be Rosol cause he just got into trouble with the Agong. Roslan SMS Pas? Probably too early.

A - Anwar? So he came second place in the race with Ku Li, probably when his plan to get into the Parliament this round didn't work, he has to wait for the next election. Azalina Othman? Is that too early for her? Probably if Rafidah has broken the record as the first female PM, then Azalina followed suit, no? Ok, probably too young still and she is not even a Wanita member, let's put her in the next round. Anifah Aman? He is going to jump to the opposition soon. Nik Aziz? Let's take A for this round. Probably by then many Malaysians can accept Islam as the way forward, so they want the Tok Guru. Wan Azizah? Abdul Hadi Awang? Ahmad Awang?

H - Hishamuddin Hussein if he is still there and if people still like him. (Abdul) Hadi Awang? If the opposition got the parliament. Or Husam Musa? If Hadi Awang has retired. Syed Husin Ali? Haron Din?

M - many posibilities. Mukhriz most probably if BN is still in power. Muhammad Muhd. Taib? If corruption is Malaysia got worse than ever. Muhyiddin Yassin? Mahfuz Omar Pas? Mohd Sabu Pas? Probably they are the minors now, who knows in the future?

A - again so many posibilities.

N - Nurul Izzah? Starts from very young political career. Nasaruddin Mat Isa? Nizar, Nazifuddin, Norashman (Najib's sons)? Noraini Ahmad? Noh Omar?

So, if the BN choices for the second round of R.A.H.M.A.N., that would be -

R - Razaleigh or Rafidah
A - Azalina Othman or Anifah Aman (if he is still in BN), no great choice of BN for 'A'
H - Hishamuddin Hussein
M - Mukhriz most probably unless seniors like Muhammad Muhd. Taib & Muhyiddin Yassin still are clinging there
A - same as A above
N - Noraini Ahmad if Wanita/Puteri power is stronger. Or one of Najib's sons if Nepotism is still strong. Probably not Noh Omar.

The BA/BR choices might be -

R - Can't be Roslan SMS, not sure
A - Anwar most likely. Wan Azizah maybe if Anwar got detained again. Nik Aziz or Abdul Hadi Awang if people want Islam. If not, take Ahmad Awang.
H - Husam Musa, Hadi Awang, Haron Din or Syed Husin Ali.
M - Mahfuz Omar or Mohd Sabu
A - same as 'A' above
N - Nurul Izzah or Nasaruddin Mat Isa

So, Khairy Jamaluddin is not here, neither is Lim Guan Eng, Ling Hee Leong and the rest of the 'L' (from both BN and BA) if RAHMAN is the theory.

Do you believe in this theory?

ALLAHU'alam.

Wassalam.

p/s: of course all these are just guesses, who knows what's going to happen because at this stage of political wave in Malaysia, anything is possible!

Can we stop corruption?

Assalamualaikum warahmatullah wabarakatuh,

Following my previous post on corruption, it is clear that ALLAH has made this worldly stuff as test, wealth is for sharing with the poor not just family members, whatever that we have earned from corruption or any activities related to corrupted ways will only be fuel in the Hell to burn us. We only feel the pleasure in this World from what we have gained using corrupted means but it will be the worst consequence in the Life after death. Read ALLAH's words in my previous post.

Interestingly, no matter how much ALLAH has warned us to stay away from haram income and corruption, some people just can't live without it, seriously. It is as if that corruption has been a part of their life, their culture.

I remember when I was in school, I was the secretary of a society and we decided to organised a motivation camping for the students who were not doing well in their studies. It was fully funded by the school and Jabatan Pendidikan Daerah. When I was doing the budget, my teacher told me that I have to use all the money provided, no matter how. I was puzzled, why we need to use all the money cause I have been taught at home that we should save as much money as we can.

When I went to university, I was very active in my college and organised a lot of programmes. I was told that it is very usual for people to fake the receipts and wrote in the budget report more than what we have spent so that we can get extra money for the society we were in. I was not quite understand why we need to do it through this way, but I learned 'the way'.

Later, I realised that it is a form of corruption and it's completely wrong but people still don't really take it as something serious. I can understand if the corruption involved no more than hundreds of Ringgit Malaysia (even 1 cent of corruption is wrong actually) but what about billions & trillions? You can actually sell the whole country by doing that! PM said he promotes transparency in his government but the more he said so the more corrupted his people are. How? This is for total-beginners.

You are an MP or State Exco or PM or MB or whoever that is in-charged of making policy. You push forward a developmental project and obviously it will get passed cause they are all your friends or you are in power. So then you open the project for contractors to bid for the tender. If you are a DEB supporter, you said only those contractors that fulfill the policy of DEB can compete for the tender. Then you choose the 'best' tender who you think is giving 'the best deal' (to you!). The contractor writes you a budget and during the transaction you earn some commission which is very common in many business around the world, it's a form of courtesy. If you are honest, you either not accepting the commission or you put the money into the government. The commission is around 5%-10% (or more) of the sale price. If the budget is RM 1 billion, you know how much will go to your pocket, right? No need a rocket scientist to tell you. If you submit the bills and receipts of the whole project, tell me who is going to check every piece of them if there are a few fake ones (as I have experienced myself)? The contractor is so happy for you giving them the tender, of course they want a second round, so they will buy your heart by promising more commission, they are very happy to write you whatever number you want on the invoice.

I know about commission in business cause my father is a businessman. I was so involved in helping him with his business before I went to university. I can see all the invoices have a little remark at the bottom showing how much commission and stuff like that. And later when I became a tutor in one of the universities, a colleague (very senior) of mine decided to buy some laboratory equipment and without any sense of shamefulness he admitted that he got some commission in the transaction, like a lot! How disgraceful! Urgh! There is no end in this whole circle. Corruption once started, it's like fire on dry grass, it can only spread but not easy to put off.

I am not denying that there are honest and uncorrupted politicians out there. If there are, I truly wish them well and will pray hard so that ALLAH will make them stand firm on their position to serve the people. But all I can see is corruption. In Perak, because it is not your political friend who used to 'spoon-fed' you become the MB, you started to boycott him. I am not supporting the new Perak MB but I am disgusted with this stupid attitude of the people. At least 2 different organisations have tried to sabotage the new MB - PROWARIS (young Malay Professionals) and the JKKK (Heads of Village Committee) who I know for sure depend much of their income through politics. Why? Because I have lived in Perak with some Malay Ketua Kampungs!

It was in my university time that I got an opportunity to join an Anak Angkat programme. You basically become the foster child of one of the families in a village. I have involved in this kind of programme in Perak & Pahang. My foster father in Perak was very pro-UMNO, same to the village in Pahang. Why? Because my foster father is a Class F Contractor. I remember once, while staying with them (not during the programme anymore but just regular friendly visit to the family which I do once a year) my foster father brought me and other siblings to Ipoh and to the JKR there. He said he is going to ask them to give him a tender near the village, to build road. He said that he will get it cause he is very good with the then MB. If you are not the supporter, this is what you will get.

So, that's how you get a tender. Be the supporters of UMNO and then you know that you sure can soar in your business. This is just one example. And later my foster father is appointed as the Ketua Kampung because he is so good with the then MB. Now you see there is no surprise that all the Ketua Kampung decided to go against the new MB cause they don't know him and they are afraid that he is not the kind of MB that can be easily 'bought'. The new MB said he will have to try his best to cater the need of 41% of Chinese, 50% of Malay and the rest of the people in Perak. There are only 2 Malay Excos in the State Assembly, who will the Malays go to to ask for tenders like how my foster father did if there are only 2 options? And both the options are PAS member who are actually seen as UMNO's traditional rival. If you have been the strongest supporter of UMNO and then you make a U-turn to PAS, erm... don't think that is really going to work. ALLAHU'alam.

So you see, this is one of the problems. MONEY! If the leaders are corrupted, so as the followers. It is so difficult for them to accept the new leaders because they don't 'click' with them. Same to the issue in Terengganu and Perlis. You want the old MBs because they are your 'friends' who you know they will look after you if they are in power. That's why you dare to die to protect them so that if they secure their authority, you secure your pocket. No?

Then came the groups that support the new MBs because they basically are gambling their future on this. It's like making a bet. If you got the right number, you got the money. Behind the support is the power and behind the power is the money. If only people can realise that truly the wealth that they gather here will not be useful even one cent in the life after death, surely they will stop acting like this. If only...

Can we stop the corruption? I hope we will but I am not that very optimistic. Mahathir did try when he said let's take away the stick (tongkat) but people started to boo at him. Corruption has been a part of Malaysian culture, I don't know who can put it to an end but I pray that ALLAH will, if HE willed.

ALLAHU'alam.

Wassalam.
